Eventuri was founded by a team of engineers and enthusiasts with a background in Aeronautics and tuning – all sharing a passion for cars and performance. After owning various intakes over many years for our own cars and being disappointed with the gains which seldom lived up to their claims – we decided to take things into our own hands and rewrite the book. To set a new benchmark in intake design and technology, above all – to engineer systems which provide real gains and then to publish genuine figures.

Our systems are extensively developed using cutting edge design, testing and prototyping methods. With a focus on performance, each design undergoes CFD analysis and is then validated at the prototype stage through volumetric airflow, intake temperature and extensive dynamometer testing. We strive to publish all the development information to illustrate the depths we go to in bringing an intake from concept to reality.

Only the best materials are selected for each component – even down to the choice of fasteners and fixings in order to ensure that the quality of the end product is second to none.

With so many aftermarket intakes available, the natural question arises:

“So what’s so special about the Eventuri Intakes?”

There are two main elements in explaining the answer to what sets us apart from the rest:

The Patented Eventuri Filter Housing

Even at first glance the Eventuri intake looks very different to many other aftermarket intakes. Unlike the majority of intakes, which use the same cone filter/tube/heat shield configuration, the Eventuri design is fundamentally different and has been Patented.

 

AFTERMARKET INTAKE SYSTEMS

Most aftermarket intakes use a cone filter mated to an inlet tube with some type of heat shielding. In this configuration airflow must negotiate a path from the large diameter at the base of the filter through to the smaller diameter of the inlet tube in a relatively short distance. There is usually a velocity stack at the base of the filter to help with the transition, however the stack is usually small. This sudden transition in geometry is detrimental for flow. The result is a loss of throttle response and performance gains are usually limited over the OEM intake system. The diagram below shows a typical aftermarket intake using a cone filter secured to an engine inlet tube. The filter uses a standard velocity stack, which has been highlighted in yellow.

THE EVENTURI INTAKE SYSTEM

The Eventuri is a new type of intake design, which has been granted a patent. We use a cone filter – but here it is inverted and decoupled from the inlet tube. By removing the direct connection between the filter and the inlet tube, the filter is no longer dictating the shape of the airflow. This is now being done by the carbon housing, which is designed to smoothly guide the air into the inlet tube without a sudden change in geometry. This means that we keep laminar conditions throughout the intake, which is a lot more efficient. Furthermore, the funnel-shaped housing invokes the Venturi effect where the smooth reduction in cross-sectional area along the length of the housing causes the airflow to increase in velocity. Essentially the entire housing acts as a large velocity stack. On the road this translates to more power with a smoother delivery as well as sharper throttle response since the airflow is not inhibited by abrupt geometry changes andso is more likely to remain laminar. The diagram below shows an Eventuri intake system using a reverse mounted filter inside an Eventuri housing. The large velocity stack area is highlighted in yellow.

To compliment our unique filter housings we designed our filters specifically for this reverse mounted configuration in order to provide the optimum airflow through the system. Detailed descriptions of the filters can be seen in the FILTER section.

The Complete Solution

The final element to our design – which is as important, is our emphasis on creating a complete solution. We dedicate a lot of design effort on ensuring the filter housings are provided with ambient air in the most efficient way possible. Allowing the filters to draw in heated air from the engine bay defeats the objective and in many cases is the cause of an actual loss in power over the stock system once the engine bay is heat soaked. Simply using heat shields is not enough – there must also be a method of channeling cold air into the intake. This is where we have seen some companies use “scoops” but on closer inspection are usually very flat and almost perpendicular to the oncoming air. Not the ideal solution for trying to redirect air at high speeds! Our scoop designs have, where possible a curved face for as much of the exposed area as possible in order to smoothly redirect incoming air to the filters. In doing so we ensure that engine bay heat is displaced and so intake air temperatures are kept as low as possible.

From scoop to duct to housing to inlet tubing – by utilizing organic shapes, we invest a great deal of time and effort in providing a smooth path for the airflow to follow. Hence ensuring maximum efficiency of the system.

On The Road

With a smooth inlet track to the MAF tube/Engine inlet and by ensuring we have an effective cold air supply to the filters, the resultant performance increases translate to an enhanced driving experience:

  • Throttle response is sharper as air speeds in the inlet track are maintained by the Venturi effect.
  • Low/mid range torque is increased which improves general driveability. The car feels more aggressive and eager to drive.
  • Top end power is increased as the engine is allowed to draw in cold air with less restriction.

Couple the performance increase with a more audible and sonorous induction sound and the overall driving experience is much more involving and enjoyable.

THE DESIGN

The APR intake system features dual frontal inlets which feed to a large airbox. This provides full frontal coverage of all inlets. Air feeds into the airbox, which comes as an open system for maximum flow and sound, but with various optional covers making the system a closed airbox design if you so choose. The covers simply snaps into place without any tools making install and removal simple. Within the airbox is our custom cotton gauze filter. It features a high flow filter material that provides exceptional filtration with very low pressure drop and restriction due to the filters large surface area and an additional frontal inlet scoop.

The filter attaches to the airbox and leads directly into our massive 109 mm (4.28”) turbo inlet pipe. The inlet pipe, which is often overlooked, is typically one of the most restrictive parts of the inlet system. We’ve improved upon this greatly. The cross-sectional area of our system is 99% larger than the factory at the airbox! It connects to the airbox with only a single hose clamp with no need for silicone couplers and adapter. This makes the install simple, and gives the system a very clean and professional look.

Next airflow is directed straight through the intake filter without any initial turns or bends after the filter. The most ideal airpath for maximum performance is a straight through pipe. While not always possible in all situations, every consideration was made to make this system as straight as possible to promote performance. The flow path was optimized with CFD to minimize pressure drop and turbulence within the controlled space. Even the flex section is integrated to allow for necessary movement with low profile ridges for minimal disruption. The system gradually necks down to the turbo inlet adapter. The pipe is oversized to allow for swapping inlet adapters for larger ones in the future for larger turbocharger setups. Once again a single clamp connects to two without any silicone adapters for a clean and easy install with less possibilities for leaks. The turbo inlet adapter features an ideal entrance into the turbocharger and port matches to turbo to prevent any disruptive airflow. Furthermore, unlike the factory inlets pipes, there are no sharp and disruptive bends directly before the turbocharger.

Simply put, this is the ultimate upgrade. We engineered our intake system as a full system because any system that’s designed to connect to any of the factory parts, from the airbox, to the turbo inlet pipe, or the turbo inlet adapter, will have sacrifices in airflow and performance. This is because the system will need to neck down to smaller diameters, or make sharp and harsh airflow disrupting bends.

PERFORMANCE GAINS

To increase power on an intake system you must reduce pressure drop and increase airflow through the system. This allows the turbocharger to work less hard to product the same power, and in the case of many setups this frees up headroom so the turbo can pull in more air and make more power.

We tested the system in various configurations on vehicles with the factory Garret (GTI/A3 Platform) Turbo, and the factory Continental (Golf R/S3 Platform) Turbo. Furthermore tests were conducted with the airbox cover both open and closed. The full intake system was used from the frontal inlets all the way to the turbocharger itself. This is the most true test of the system as it will account for the largest restriction point, which is the turbocharger itself. Lastly, all tests were conducted under the same conditions, on the same day, on the same flow bench, at the same depression.

GARRET (GTI/A3 PLATFORM) TURBO SETUPS

On vehicles with the Garret Turbocharger (GTI/A3 Platform) and the with our turbo inlet adapter designed for the factory turbocharger we saw a 28% and 30% increase in airflow in closed and open configurations. However, when upgrading the turbocharger and providing an appropriately matched turbo inlet pipe, the numbers increase dramatically to 97% and 114% in a closed and open configuration at the maximum inlet size! On a Stage 1 equipped vehicle with no other hardware changes or tune adjustments to maximize airflow, the vehicle instantly picked up 11 AWHP and 11 AWFT-LBS of torque! These gains will grow dramatically as more performance mods and larger turbocharger setups are added to the equation!

CONTINENTAL (GOLF R/S3 PLATFORM) TURBO SETUPS

On vehicles with the Continental Turbocharger (Golf R/S3 Platform) and the with our turbo inlet adapter designed for the factory turbocharger we saw a 39% and 43% increase in airflow in closed and open configurations. However, when upgrading the turbocharger and providing an appropriately matched turbo inlet pipe, the numbers increase dramatically to 66% and 80% in a closed and open configuration at the maximum inlet size! On a Stage 1 equipped vehicle with no other hardware changes or tune adjustments to maximize airflow, the vehicle instantly picked up 15 AWHP and 12 AWFT-LBS of torque! These gains will grow dramatically as more performance mods and larger turbocharger setups are added to the equation!

The system is designed to be used as an open, or closed intake. If upgrading to a closed system, we offer several options depending on what fits your budget and desired style. The simply snap into place with no tools necessary!

FUTURE BIG TURBO UPGRADES

This system was designed for the factory turbocharger, but if upgrading in the future, the system can grow with you. There are a couple ways we achieve this. First, if the factory turbo is modified to have a larger inlet, the turbo inlet adapter can be swapped on our intake system. Secondly, if upgrading to a larger unit that now requires a DV recirculation pipe, the pipe can be upgraded to the pipe that supports a DV recirculation pipe (GTI/A3 CI100052 Platform). Simply put, this is the only intake system you’ll need as you continue to mod your vehicle over the years!

APR Braided Stainless Steel Direct-Fit Brake Line Upgrades are a direct replacement that improves your braking experience with the best lines on the market today. We do away with the factory rubber hoses that expand and can even rupture over time, and replace them with braided 304 stainless steel lines with a smooth-bore Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) / Teflon core that allow for very little expansion. This gives you a firmer brake pedal with less required pedal travel as the fluid gets to its destination faster without all the flex and expansion that happens with lower quality lines. Unlike many universal lines on the market that often use connector adapters, ours are application specific with the correct length and hose fittings, eliminating potential leak points. The lines have an attractive polyvinyl chloride (PVC) outer jacket in smoked clear so you can see the braided lines from within, with red anodized inserts, and Cr3+ steel connectors. The APR Suspension Control Unit (SCU) Upgrade directly replaces your factory suspension controller with a new unit that enables advanced control over your vehicle’s factory electronic shocks. The factory controller only operates in a “soft” or “stiff” state with no behavior in-between, despite the incredible capability of the factory electronic shocks. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this related to the DSC controller:

Yes! This setup is a collaboration with longtime partners at DSC. DSC worked with APR for over 3 years to build the VAG controller and software in its entirety. APR now offer the controller under our own name with the new tune and it’s in stock and ready to ship at an exciting new price point not found elsewhere. Our partners at DSC have been designing suspension controllers since 2007 and are the leaders in this arena.

Will I be able to custom tune:

Yes. A new application is being made for APR specific customers that’s more user friendly. The existing DSC app can be used.

Do I need a custom tune:

Most customers will get the most out of this without any tuning at all. We are exploring “stages” to maximize different setups.

How easy is it to tune:

Beyond simple adjustments, tuning is fairly difficult and best left to the pros. We encourage the community to share their findings. Neither APR or DSC provides tuning assistance.

When will the APR desktop App release:

It’s in the work now. We will update our product pages with links necessary to download the app in the future. It will require a windows based PC, and a USB cable. You can experiment with the existing DSC desktop app as well.

What’s something interesting you can tune with the software:

Many customers have success cutting down their 60ft times by making the dampers extremely aggressive for their setup, and then return the dampers to our settings for daily driving. The controller is incredibly flexible. By actively utilizing high speed can inputs it can make decisions based on load and conditions to improve performance.

Do I need a new tune with different springs:

The system adapts and adjusts in real-time through the advanced algorithm. A new tune is not required, though improvements can be made to optimize the setup further.

Does it work with other dampers:

Just like the factory controller, it’s not fine-tuned for non-Oem dampers. User adjustments in the app are necessary to take full advantage of them.

Does this let me lower ride height:

No, this controller is not for air-ride vehicles.

I deleted my factory dampers. Is this for removing the light on the dash:

This controllers allows you to run different electronic dampers. It’s not designed for removing electronic dampers.

Are ODIS / VAG-Com / VCDS / Etc adjustments necessary:

No, that’s only required with the factory controller. This unit replaces the factory controller and has it own tuning suite. No adaptation is possible through standard tools.

Does this wear out the stock shocks, springs, bushings, tires more quickly:

We have no quantifiable data to say this will wear out your stock shocks more quickly. However, this will lessen strain on various components due to the switch between aggressive and comfort through the way it’s always adjusting in real time. This will extend your usable range and life for various components, such as your tires.

Does this work on other platforms, or European vehicles:

Cross reference the OEM controller part numbers under “specs” on each product page. We’ve listed each of the USA controllers that match and are a direct swap that were available when the product launched. The same will likely be true for a host of ROW vehicles from other makes and models not listed on our website.

Do you plan to expand coverage to other vehicles:

Yes. We will continue expanding based on success of the product and demand.

APR IRIDIUM PRO SPARK PLUGS

APR Iridium Pro Spark Plugs are the excellent upgrade for tuned engines. Our spark plugs are made from Iridium, which is one of the strongest materials you can use in this type of application. They run cooler, resist preignition, last longer than other materials with higher melting points, and even require less voltage to produce a strong spark. The electrode is harder and stronger than other materials, can dissipate heat more easily, is better protected from melting, cracking, and other limitations found with standard plugs. These plugs were designed for use on tuned and higher output vehicles that benefit from a plug cooler than the factory heat range. They are great for high boost, high cylinder pressure, high cylinder temperatures, and high power situations, and they pair nicely with a set of APR ignition coils, where applicable.

APR CARBON FIBER INTAKE SYSTEM AND TURBO INLETS FOR THE 2021+ RS6/RS7 (C8)

The APR 4.0T EA825 Intake System is here for the Audi (C8) RS6 and RS7! The APR Intake System is a substantial upgrade for the 4.0T EA825 engine. It offers significant horsepower and torque gains through a high flow design that greatly increases airflow while reducing pressure drop.

We’ve upgraded every part that actually translates to increased performance. Throttle response sharpens, as the system lets your engine to breath more freely. This causes the turbochargers to work less hard, which directly translates to the gains you feel. On top of that, the stunning carbon fiber and aluminum design looks fantastic in the engine bay and adds a pleasant auditory note to the engine. The filter is washable and reusable, and the cast aluminum turbo inlets use adapter rings with ideal entrances, making them compatible with larger turbochargers. This lets the system support even higher airflow levels, with low pressure drop, and even more horsepower and torque as you continue to mod!
